The project “Genomic heterogeneity of circulating tumor cells (GENCTC)” has been funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (MCIN; grant PID2019-106247GB-100) with a budget of 363,000 €. The Principal Investigator is David Posada, and it will run from June 1, 2020, to May 31, 2025 (after a 1-year extension)
In the GENCTC project, we aim to leverage an evolutionary genomics approach to better understand how and when CTCs and CTC clusters initiate the metastatic process. As part of this, we strive to understand which genetic changes enhance the metastatic potential of CTCs and whether CTC clusters responsible for metastases are truly heterogeneous at the genomic level.
